Summer Newsletter

Dear Parents/Carers

Welcome to our end of term newsletter. It’s packed full of content to make you smile and reflect on what’s been a brilliant year! A huge thank you to children, staff and parents for making OPA an amazing place to work!

We’ve achieved some fantastic outcomes at the end of the year with our Year 6s getting our best ever results! Results across the board are incredibly pleasing. It comes as no surprise to me as I know our children aim high and do their best and I am lucky that we have talented staff who are dedicated to delivering the best for our children.

These superstars were nominated for an ice-pop with the Headteacher for consistently wow behaviour. We actually found a day where the sun was shining for a change! Needless to say I had an ice-pop too!

All year there has been a huge push on reading for pleasure. Miss Gulc has been very active in replenishing and refurbing our libraries and with your help earlier in the year. Watch this space – we’re on a roll!

Our teachers go the extra mile to make learning so much fun! The dressing up pirate day in KS1 was a huge success. RRRRRRRRR me harties!

Some of our Year 6s received a special commemorative award presented by Mrs Marshall for attending choir throughout school. They performed at an assembly and were amazing. Thank you guys – it was very emotional!

Our Year 6s leave and we say a sad farewell. It’s a rite of passage to get your shirt signed. Join us tomorrow at the end of school to clap them out of school for the last time. It’s going to be emotional!

More of Y6 and they deserve the accolades. They were simply stunning in their end of Year concert ‘Robin Hood and The Sherwood Hoodies’.

We are looking forward to greeting our Reception pupils onto The Lane in September. How quickly the year has gone!

Nursery and Reception pupils celebrated with a Teddy Bears Picnic. The children loved showing off their own bears and having fun with the parachute.

A huge thank you to all our wonderful volunteers, including our governors, who help and support our school. We made a fantastic start to clearing our forest schools area and thank you to Julian Pattison who donated a very generous amount of money to continue this improvement.  Collectively all our adults in school really do make a difference to our children’s happiness and achievement in school.

Last but least have a wonderful summer holiday! We look forward to seeing you again in September.
