10.06.20 Parent letter – update

Dear Parents and Carers,

As you may have seen yesterday on the news, the Government has announced that pupils in Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 are no longer expected to return to school this term.

Due to an increase in numbers of the children of key workers and vulnerable pupils into our frontline school, our Osbaldwick Lane site will be at full capacity from 22 June. Therefore it is with regret that we are unable to welcome back Year 1s before September.

Because of our split site we are able to facilitate the return of Nursery and Reception pupils on a part-time basis from Monday 15 June.

We feel strongly that we need to give our Year 6 pupils some closure on their primary school years and some support in transitioning up to secondary school. We are therefore looking into the possibility of the return of Year 6 in the last week of school – week beginning 13 July. However, you will appreciate this is a fast moving situation and so we will be in touch nearer the time with more information if this will be possible.

We understand the disappointment this presents to the majority of our pupils and parents. The return to school is something we have all been looking forward to; children reuniting with friends and teachers, or getting back to a sense of normality.

We appreciate this is a difficult time for children who need to get back to school for their emotional, social and academic needs and for parents who have to get back to work.

All our children are equally important to us. We will continue our care and support through work set, feedback to learning online and check-ins by phone.

Should you need any support, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards

Mr Brown
