Dear Parents and Carers,
Reflecting on the past academic year, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of pride in what our school community has achieved. From great academic progress and dazzling creative performances to triumphs on the sports field and countless acts of daily kindness, it has been a fantastic year. Our pupils follow our values of ‘aim high, be safe and be kind’ each day. This makes coming to work an absolute privilege.
Football’s Coming Home
In a breathtaking, nail-biting finale, our players showed incredible determination to defeat Yearsley Primary 3-2 and lift the prestigious Primary Cup! It was a thrilling, end-to-end match that would rival any World Cup final. Huge congratulations to our spectacular champions!
Productions and Summer Events
We have had lots of opportunities for parents and carers to visit the school including a brilliant sports day and our wonderful Y6 production and music showcases. It was lovely to see these events so well attended and we are so proud of our pupils for their enthusiasm and effort.
All our concerts and summer events have been really well supported and the children have loved taking part.
Year 1 and Year 2 Trip to The Sealife Centre
Our Year one and two adventurers had an unforgettable day at Scarborough SEA LIFE Centre! The children’s eyes lit up as they came face-to-face with majestic sharks, waddling penguins, and rescued seals. They walked through the incredible ocean tunnel, marvelling at the sea turtles swimming right above their heads. Everyone showed fantastic curiosity, asking brilliant questions during the rockpool workshop. A huge thank you to our wonderful staff and volunteers who helped make this magical hands-on learning experience possible!
Trip to Beetle Bank Farm
Some of our pupils visited Beetle Bank Open Farm who loved seeing and feeding the animals.
Choral Celebration at York University
Our wonderful pupils took part in the York Schools Choir Festival. Thanks to Mrs Hine, Mrs Tempest and Mrs Oldfield for organising and accompanying our marvellous singers. Well done choir.
Staff Leavers
As we come to the end of the school year, we are saying a fond farewell to several valued members of our staff. While we are sad to see them leave, we are incredibly grateful for their dedication, hard work, and the positive impact they have had on our school community.

Thankfully the popular Miss Scothern is moving to Camblesforth School and will stay in Ebor Academy Trust. She’s been an amazing Year 2 teacher.
Music
Whilst Mrs Marshall is leaving, Mrs Oldfield will continue teaching music and running the choir. Thankfully Mrs Marshall has agreed to stay on in a voluntary capacity as her drive and passion for music has ensured our school has one of the best offers in the city.

We will continue to signpost you to opportunities for your child in the community to develop confidence, friendships and hobbies.
Crossing Patrol Vacancy
We have a current vacancy to be filled so please spread the word as it is vital that we keep our pupils safe whilst making their way to and from school.
Have an amazing summer holiday
Finally, I would like to extend my warmest wishes to our departing Year 6s they begin their next exciting chapters—you will always be a part of our school family. We shall watch their journey with great interest.
School finishes on Friday 17th July at 1:00pm at the Lane and 1:15pm at the Leyes.
It is an INSET day on Monday 7th September and Nursery and Years 1 to 6 return on Tuesday 8th September. Reception pupils start back on Wednesday 9th September.
