Parent Survey Response

Dear Parents and Carers,

At the start of the year you filled in a parent and carer survey. We would like to update you on the progress we have made.

Wellbeing

Some of you said that you would like increased opportunities to discuss sensitive issues around wellbeing. You know that Nicky Bryan-Smith, Pastoral Lead, is available to discuss any issues as they arise as a first port of call. We also now have support from our school based team with NHS expertise who are available for parents to arrange drop in sessions. They are available on Monday and Fridays by appointment. Each month we continue to offer drop in sessions – no appointment necessary.

Attendance

Some parents asked to be informed more regularly of their child’s attendance. We have increased this to four times a year so that you can monitor your own child’s attendance more closely.

Watch out for an update in February.

Opportunities for Parents to discuss progress and learning

Parents told us that whilst the seesaw app gives an opportunity to message teachers and view curriculum progress they would value more opportunity to receive updates. This term we have already held a parent and child SEN craft cafe and we have planned a cafe for parents of children with English as an additional language later this month. We will look to further opportunities to bring parents into school throughout the year.

Role of Governors

Some parents told us that they weren’t sure of the role Governors played in the school.

Josh Meeklah and Melissa Murphy are our parent Governors who are active members of the governing body. We also have other governors appointed by the trust who provide challenge, support, oversight and accountability. For more information on our governing body please visit our dedicated website page:

Role of Ebor Academy Trust

Some of you told us that you weren’t sure of the role of Ebor Academy Trust. We are one of 25 schools within the academy. We benefit greatly from a multitude of support including: specialist training for staff, quality assurance visits to ensure the quality of education offer is high. An example of the peer support we receive was the recruitment of Mr Unwin from another Ebor school on an interim placement into our Early Years team whilst Mrs Messruther is on maternity leave. Feedback from parents and our youngest pupils has been very positive and we’re delighted with the transition into Spring term.

Thank you for your ongoing support. Please keep the feedback coming so we can continue to provide the very best outcomes for all our children.

Kind regards

Mr Brown
