Dear Parents/Carers,
The nativity performances have been brilliant and we await the Christmas Concerts next Tuesday. We will send another newsletter on the final day with photographs of all our Christmas shows.
Ex-Pupil on pathway towards Olympics
Ex- pupil Leo Atang visited our school and inspired pupils with the progress he has made in the sport of boxing. Leo recently beat Lee Geon Hui of Korea at the U19 World Boxing Championships in the final. Pupils loved wearing his gold medal and boxing belts. Leo also taught us lots about aiming high, respect and self discipline. Leo has one more as an amateur before he can turn professional or go to the Olympics with Team GB. Exciting times await.
Inspiring Visitors
As part of our Reception topic we have had lots of visitors inspiring us. Ex-pupil Sam Thompson is now a policeman and Mr Kay’s Dad showed us his medals from his time in the army.
Being Kind
Thanks to Mrs Hope for helping our families safely cross the road before and after school. Also thank you to Ada Jobling for the kind present, Remi McPherson for the lovely card and to Mr Potter for visibility at the front of school. An act of kindness makes a huge difference.
It was lovely to see Abba and Ayman catching up with their sister and taking an interest in the learning in Nursery after we had the sibling photographs. Well done team.
Our Nursery children enjoyed planting bulbs recently taking great care. We’ll update you in Spring with the results.
Pupils Perform at Minster
Some of our pupils had the once in a lifetime opportunity to perform in The Minster with a national chorsiter company ‘Gabrielli Roar’. The performance was in collaboration with other schools including four others in our own Trust. The pupils had an amazing time and performed with great credit. Anna from Gabrieli – “Thank you so much. We all commented how wonderful your children behaved and performed their socks off. You should be incredibly proud, we couldn’t have done it without you all.” Mrs Marshall said ‘The children were outstanding. It was very special for Jonah whose Grandad was the Head Chorister at York Minster and sadly passed away a few years ago. It was a wonderful tribute to his family and Jonah’s auntie came up from London to attend.’ A huge thank you to Mrs Marshall, Mrs Hine, Mrs Ferguson, Mrs Forde and Mr Swindells for all your help to make this happen.
Christmas in full swing at Osbaldwick
Christmas nativities and concert rehearsals are underway and we look forward to seeing you all in the next week.
No Pens Day
Thank you to Miss Mitha for organising No Pens Day. There was lots of fun including: artwork and papier mache, origami and poetry recital. All the pupils enjoyed the hands on day with a focus on oracy. Feedback from staff and pupils was that it was lots of fun.
Poppy Appeal Donation
A big thank you to everyone who gave donations for the Poppy Appeal this year, we raised an amazing £141.53.
Christmas Crafts
Some of our pupils shared a Christmas Craft morning with their parents and carers. Thank you so much for attending – it was lovely to see the collaboration and creativity.
We’ll bring you a special Christmas Newsletter next week with pictures of our concerts and nativities.
Best wishes
Mr Brown
