Dear Parents and Carers,
Another school year has flown by and I am incredibly proud of all our children and staff for what has been a hugely successful year. Our end of year results continue to remain high, at the end of foundation stage with 73% of children achieving a good level of development, compared to 69% nationally. Our phonics data in Year 1 remains high with 73% of children achieving it. Year 4 worked very hard to prepare themselves for their multiplication test with 59% achieving full marks (national average is 38%) and year 6 made outstanding progress by achieving following standards 71% in Reading, 74% in writing and 76% in Maths. I am extremely proud of every child as they have continued to excel in our school values: Aim high, be kind and be safe.
Community Project
The year 5s, after visiting St Thomas’ Church in Osbaldwick, have been given the exciting opportunity to participate in a community project. They have been working on a piece for a giant tapestry which will hang in St Thomas’ Church. Our section focuses on the history of Osbaldwick school and the importance it plays in our community. The children worked really hard using a variety of fabrics and materials to showcase their interpretation of our school and its values.
Dancing Through the Decades
Our Year 3 and 4s had a great time dressing up for their celebration event ‘Dancing Through the Decades.’ The costumes were all fantastic and the children loved the day. Thank you to parents for helping to make it such a success!
Reception pupils share their books
Reception pupils were very proud to share the books they had written with our Ebor office staff that work at The Leyes. All the staff were very impressed with the phonics and the stories they had written and illustrated beautifully. Well done Reception class.
Year 6 Leavers
We will miss our Year 6s and we are very proud of the amazing year they have had. This picture was at the leavers’ barbecue. We wish them all the best in the future as they start a new chapter in their lives. Remember to keep your OPA values that have served you so well. Good luck with whatever the future holds.
Finally thank you to the Osbaldwick parents and families, your support this year has been immensely appreciated. I wish you all a very happy and enjoyable Summer break.
Best wishes
Mr Brown
