Home learning

Dear Parents/Carers

We hope that this finds you and your families all well and safe during these difficult times.

As a staff, we are delighted that the majority of children have been engaging with the work that has been posted by the class teachers online – in Google Classroom, See Saw or on Tapestry for the Early Years children. We have also enjoyed seeing other activities that have been going on at home too. It is lovely that the children want to share these activities with their adults in school!

We fully appreciate that these circumstances are very difficult at present and that, as parents and carers, you face a variety of challenges whilst being at home and that motivating and ensuring your children complete work can also be challenging!

Our teachers and teaching assistants are doing everything they possibly can to support your child whilst schools remain closed. We fully appreciate that some of you may not feel that you can fully support your child with their learning or may experience problems accessing the work set online. When you have experienced any problems or have needed support with the work, you have reached out and contacted your child’s teacher by messaging through See Saw or Tapestry. Staff will continue to be very happy to offer that support.

As we communicated last week, there will be an online weekly register taken on a Wednesday where every child in the school will receive a mark depending on the amount of interaction of online learning. If we feel it necessary, a member of our WEB (Well Being) Team will phone to ensure that everyone is safe and well. Whilst this register is primarily to ensure well being, it is also an opportunity for us to talk to you around your child’s online learning, including any problems that you may be experiencing. The WEB Team can then feed this back to the class teacher who can, along with Mr Brown and Mrs Mould, offer solutions.

Please encourage your child to take their online learning seriously. The work that is being set by teachers is really important to enable your child to practise and apply skills and knowledge as well as moving their learning forward. Mr Brown and Mrs Mould will be posting videos onto each See Saw community class group to say hello to the children and to share this message.

If there is anything that you think school could provide help with, please do get in touch. The school telephone number is: 01904555606 or email: admin.osb@ebor.academy

We hope that you and your families stay safe and well in the coming days and weeks.

Best wishes
