INTENT

Content

Science is taught weekly in an engaging, hands-on way so that children are inspired to find out things for themselves by working scientifically either through investigation or using technology to research. Children are given regular opportunities to apply their knowledge to wider concepts in order to demonstrate their deeper level understanding. Most importantly, science is fun!

Cohesion
All lessons are: hands-on; student-led; full of questions; engaging; active; taken into a real-life setting and linked to topic (when possible).

Creativity

Our science curriculum embraces four core creativity skills: curiosity; open-mindedness; imagination and problem solving.

Compassion

Science is a subject where children are encouraged to support each other and take risks with their thinking.

Community

School visits, gardening club, visitors to school all link our science curriculum to the community.
