Computing

INTENT

The world is an increasingly technology-driven place, and at Osbaldwick we ensure that children learn the necessary skills and knowledge to help navigate it in a safe and respectful manner. Chromebooks are used across school in a cross-curricular fashion which has given children a boost to their ability to explore certain concepts independently as well as increase the ownership they have over their work. The curriculum is broken down into three main parts: control systems (where children learn to write and debug algorithms), information technology (where the children are assessed on their ability to use technology to research and present information), and digital literacy (which covers everything from e-safety to reliability of sources). When developing their computing skills, children are encouraged to develop their vital skills of communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity to accomplish their goals.
