The Skills Builder Partnership brings together schools and colleges, employers and youth organisations all using the Skills Builder Framework to develop the eight essential skills children and young people need to succeed. 

The Framework takes each of the eight skills; listening, presenting, problem solving, creativity, staying positive, aiming high, leadership and teamwork, and breaks them down into teachable and learnable nuggets. The use of a common language and the framework keeps things simple and consistent. 

At OPA, as well as undertaking discrete SkillBuilders projects and Challenge Days, which each phase will take part in at least twice a year, we are embedding the skills into our ‘bread and butter’ lessons, making sure that the skills are recognised in all areas of the curriculum and that the common language is consistent. 

As well as this ‘in school’ approach, The Skills Builder Partnership work in conjunction with 130 employers from across all industries and sectors, such as Amazon, TUI, Pret A Manger, Argos, JLL, Natwest, Selfridges and Waitrose, to help these organisations engage effectively with children and young people through trips and workshops. We hope to link with local employers, who will host inspiring workplace trips to give our students a taste of the world of work.
